Kristin "Braids" Peraza #13

The Person & Player

Kristin "Braids" Peraza #13

Kristin, or also known as "Braids," is as competitive as they come - practicing day or night, rain or shine to give it her all even when extra innings come rolling by.  She shows true leadership among 18U Gold travel and Burbank high school varsity team, both of which she has become the starting pitcher.  She always displays a positive attitude, dedication to her teammates and a love for the game.  Besides being hardworking, considerate and responsible, Kristin is very organized, punctual and puts her team first, remembering that there's no I in team.  She has a good sense of humor and can put a smile on anyone's face.  Being such a well-rounded individual, Kristin would make a great addition to any college or university, on and off the field.

By Jeff Tully, The Burbank Leader, Wed. May 14, 2008
  • "In turn, Burbank has also enjoyed a great deal of winning and is in the midst of one of its most successful seasons in program history."
  • "This season, Peraza has compiled a 21-2 record and has a 0.44 earned run average.  She is averaging 4.56 strikeouts a game and has struck out 301 of the 498 batters she's faced."

Burbank pair reaps honor
SOFTBALL:  Bulldogs Peraza and Beltran rewarded for fine seasons with All-LA 84 first team awards.
By Jeff Tully, The Burbank Leader, Wed. July 2, 2008
  • "With one season remaining in her high school career, Peraza is turning out to be one of the most successful pitchers in Bulldogs history.  Along with earning All-Area honors, she is three time all-league selection, as she made the first team last season and was a second team choice in 2006."
  • "'Kristin was definitely the difference for us,' Burbank Coach Nicole Drabecki said.  'We relied on her a lot to get the job done for us and she really came through.  She is a very good pitcher.'  Peraza has emerged as the program's most successful pitcher since Debby Day played for the Bulldogs in the 1980s.  Day was a three-time All-CIF selection who went on to earn All-American honors at the University of Arizona.  In 1991, she helped lead the Wildcats to the NCAA championship."
